About the projectThe project "Perceiving the world through the different dimensions" aims to indicate the problem of urbanization in cities towns and villages where isolation, loss of respect for local and regional culture is seen. The capital flow among the EU member and candidate countries impacts the living conditions of the European citizens provoking unemployment in rural areas and migration from East to West, South to North of the continent. A fast growing economy, industrialization, new IT technologies and the globalization are a challenge for a huge number of towns and villages which are getting empty on the one hand. On the other hand big cities and urban areas are getting over populated. In lots of regions people are being obliged to live in cramp cities mostly with low living standards. Respect for the natural environment and its balance with human habitats and protection of the landscape heritage is being lost. Many of the citizens are emigrants and join the local minority groups by having problems with their social, cultural and religious integration in the host country. The crowded cities are becoming handicaps especially for the disadvantages groups.
In our project we aim to search how the historical entities of the cities are being damaged by the developing industries and migration processes in different European countries which affect the national uniqueness. Uprising population circulation causes fast production, fast consumption and fast living. The traditional way of living goes into the dusty shelves of the history. These consequences make us think of the past and the future of our cities with this project. As an opposite movement to the fast movements in the cities, the slow movement which has risen in Italy first, became our aim to get people's awareness of the loosing values of their environment. |
